Mr. Sulemani & the Urdu satirist

Attaul Haq Qasmi is a noted Urdu language columnist of Pakistan. We're reproducing one of his columns, Ghamgheen Sulemani Kay Badh Khush… here which was published in the daily Jang on August 13, 2010. It has been referred to us by a journalist with an incident.

The traffic police once caught Mr. Qasmi with his "wrongly-parked" car in the New Anarkali area of Lahore. One of our bloggers, Habib R. Sulemani, rescued him from the clutches of the police in someway. Mr. Sulemani himself may write about it as "he is having a letter of thanks from the satirist".

In this column, Mr. Qasmi has deliberately not discussed the “Sulemani” in detail but has written a lot about the Khush Bash Aishpuri! Sorry, our global readers, we can't translate it into English. The Terrrorland Team

UPDATED: In the meanwhile the journalist, a former colleague of Mr. Sulemani, has given link of another column of Mr. Qasmi, published in the same newspaper on August 9, 2010. The Terrorland blogs had taken by storm the whole country by then especially the journalistic community.

Someone has suggested that the columnist's own son, Yasir Pirzada, who writes "columns" both in Urdu and English languages, can only translate the "masterpieces" of his celebrated father!

  1. Very symbolic! Qasmi has confessed that he can't afford to annoy Zaffar Abbas, whom the ISI has promised the highest designation in the country! But he has relied on the gossips about Sulemani.

The Terrorland! Well-done for pointing out "taboo subjects" in Pakistan, giving courage and strength to our fragile democracy, and freedom of thought and expression.

Now even I can write or talk on no-no topics! Hehehe...
