TEN years ago on this day, this terrorizing cloud of smoke and
ash started spreading from the Twin Towers in New York City,
and today, the grayish white dust has blanketed so much
of the world especially Pakistan.—(Photo: AP)
How this tragic event changed the face of the world at macro and micro levels? Let us start with an example at home.
The first post of this group blog was Mr. Sulemani's letter to the government of Pakistan and some emails to others. Then gradually he started writing blogs about his situation. In the next few months, Mr. Sulemani along with his other siblings wrote many posts and the world was taken aback. This was beyond the imagination of the plotters! The social media had shown its “life-saving power” for the first time in the militarized and Talibanized Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The secret agencies started harassing blog followers and commentators out of frustration. In this regard there some horrific stories. One follower of The Terrorland blogs was beaten badly by security officials. Two commentators were harassed in the United Kingdom and one in the United States by ISI agents. Since then they have stopped commenting on this blog posts. Two of them have now forcefully become part of ISI's Zaid Hamid-Ahmed Quraishi Brigade—accused of creating a "cyber generation global jihadists".
Let one thing be clear here: whatever The Terrorland Team had editorially promised about freedom of thought and freedom of expression—that promise has been fulfilled practically. So far only one comment has been rejected as it was against a religion. The Team respects all social institutions but criticizes those people who misuse these institutions especially generals, clergymen, judges, journalists and politicians.
There is no direct reaction from Zaid Hamid and Ahmed Quraishi as they have been blamed for militarization and Talibanization of the society especially creating Jihadist Sufis or Barelvi Taliban at home and Anders Breiviks and Jared Loughners abroad. However, sources close to their so-called 'brigade' claim that both men fear for their lives now.

"They believe that a recent write-up of (journalist) Nusrat Javed and an open challenge to debate from (religious leader) Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi are ISI’s tactics to disown them and make grounds for their assassinations.”
The minds behind global terrorism are gradually losing even their media war. Habib Sulemani has said: “Believe it or not! The 9/11 tragedy has revolutionized the global media culture. The social media is changing course of history in today’s world. Citizen journalists and street journalism have broken the tyranny of the mainstream media around the world especially in the developing countries. Now the social media is compelling the once egoistic mainstream media to follow the social media (for how long tyrant generals will play the role of thought-police?) In cases like the upraising in the Middle East, BBC, CNN and other so-called global news leaders feel themselves helpless at certain moments... so they have no choice but to rely on the social media especially You Tube, Facebook and Twitter.
"In Pakistan the militarized and Talibanized mainstream media has becomes a cult and the common people are not taking it seriously anymore. In major cities, those people who are still reading the traditional newspapers and watching tabloid local news channels are considered conservative and ignorant residents of the cyber world. Instead of news and views, now people are gossiping about the salary packages of anchorpersons, corruption and crimes in media outlets, and creativity and journalism controlled by the military establishment and mafia gangs.”
